Doha, Qatar: The Pakistani community of Doha, in coordination with the Embassy of Pakistan in Qatar, organized a condolence and tribute gathering at the TNG School Al Wakrah Campus to honour the life and legacy of the late Father Amir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The gathering was attended by community leaders, professionals, businessmen, and members of the Pakistani community who came together to express their heartfelt condolences to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Al Thani family, the government, and the people of Qatar.
The programme was conducted by Master of Ceremony Ms. Mariyam Khan Balooch, who welcomed the guests and highlighted the significance of the gathering. He said the event was an opportunity for the Pakistani community to pay tribute to a visionary leader whose contributions transformed Qatar into a modern and globally respected nation.
The programme commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a special tribute video presentation highlighting the historic milestones, achievements, and remarkable journey of the Father Amir’s leadership.
Senior member of the core committee for Qsindhi, Engineer Abdul Razaq Shaikh thanked the participants for joining the gathering and said the event reflected the solidarity of the Pakistani community with the leadership, government, and people of Qatar.
He paid tribute to the Father Amir as a great leader whose vision and legacy would continue to inspire generations. He said Sheikh Hamad’s name would remain remembered around the world for his outstanding contributions and transformative leadership.
Mr. Rana Anwar Ali, Chairman of Soni Dharti Welcome Forum Qatar, paid rich tribute to the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, describing him as a visionary leader whose wisdom, dedication, and commitment transformed Qatar into a modern and progressive nation. He said Sheikh Hamad believed in dialogue, cooperation, and creating opportunities for future generations. Mr. Anwar Ali highlighted that the Father Amir’s remarkable achievements continue to be reflected across Qatar through its development, stability, and global standing. He offered condolences to the Al Thani family and prayed for the departed soul.
Ms. Ghazala Zaman, a respected social worker and representative of the IBA Alumni community, conveyed condolences on behalf of the community and the Citizen Foundation Pakistan. She described the late Father Amir as a compassionate and far sighted leader whose vision placed Qatar prominently on the world map. She prayed for blessings and peace for the departed soul.
Mr. Hamid Rasool, Chairman of the Pakistan Engineers Forum, said the gathering was not only to remember the passing of a great leader but also to celebrate a vision that transformed Qatar. He highlighted that true leadership turns ideas into reality and praised the Father Amir’s role in developing Qatar’s energy sector, infrastructure, education, and human capital.
He also acknowledged the valuable contribution of the Pakistani community in Qatar’s development, including engineers, workers, doctors, professionals, and volunteers who contributed to the country’s achievements, especially during the preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Mr. Fawad Rana, Chairman of the Pakistan Business Council Qatar, expressed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the business community and praised the remarkable transformation of Qatar under the leadership of the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. He highlighted Qatar’s progress in the energy sector and said the Father Amir’s vision proved that determination, strategic planning, and strong leadership can transform nations.
Mr. Rana recalled Qatar’s journey from a developing nation into a globally respected country and acknowledged Sheikh Hamad’s role in building strong foundations for economic growth. He said a nation’s success depends on vision, commitment, and investment in the future. He appreciated the opportunities provided to expatriates, including the Pakistani community, to contribute to Qatar’s development and prayed for continued peace, stability, and prosperity for Qatar.
Senior community leader Mr. Saeed Gul shared his personal memories of Qatar’s development journey and his interaction with the Father Amir. He recalled the encouragement and respect he received during his professional work in Qatar and described Sheikh Hamad as a leader who valued dedication, development, and hard work. He prayed for the continued progress of Qatar under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Mr. Badar Sohail Khan, founder of several Pakistani forums, paid tribute to the visionary leadership of the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and highlighted his remarkable role in transforming Qatar into a globally recognized nation. Reflecting on Qatar’s development journey, he praised the Father Amir’s strategic vision, particularly the expansion of the energy sector, the growth of the LNG industry, and the establishment of strong economic foundations that secured Qatar’s future.
He said Sheikh Hamad understood that sustainable progress required investment not only in natural resources but also in education, knowledge, and human development. He appreciated the creation of Qatar Foundation and other initiatives that brought world class educational institutions to the country.
Mr. Khan said the Father Amir’s balanced approach to development preserved Qatar’s cultural heritage while promoting innovation, sustainability, and global engagement. He described Sheikh Hamad’s legacy as a model of visionary leadership and said future generations would continue to benefit from his achievements. He also called upon the Pakistani community to remain committed to supporting Qatar’s continued progress.
In his keynote tribute address, H.E. Muhammad Aamer, Ambassador of Pakistan to the State of Qatar, described the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani as one of the rare visionary leaders whose legacy extends far beyond their lifetime. He said some people merely complete the span of their lives, but exceptional leaders come with a higher purpose. They leave behind a vision that continues to inspire nations and generations long after they are gone. Sheikh Hamad, he said, was one such leader who transformed his vision into reality and reshaped the destiny of Qatar.
The Ambassador said history remembers many leaders, but only a few truly shape its course through vision, wisdom, and courage. He described Sheikh Hamad as a humble and farsighted statesman whose commitment to dialogue, development, and national progress earned worldwide respect. Recalling his personal meetings with the Father Amir, Ambassador Aamer said he was impressed by his warmth, clarity of thought, and dedication to Qatar’s prosperity. He also acknowledged the significant contribution of the Pakistani community to Qatar’s development, emphasizing that the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Qatar is built on mutual trust, shared values, and decades of close cooperation
Following the speakers’ addresses, Mr. Mohsin Raza Qureshi, Community Welfare Counsellor, Embassy of Pakistan, delivered the vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to the Ambassador, community leaders, organizers, and participants for joining the tribute gathering. He also thanked Mr. Riaz Bakali, Director TNG School and his team for hosting the tribute gathering and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to honour the legacy of the Father Amir. He said the event reflected the deep respect and affection of the Pakistani community for Qatar’s leadership and the legacy of the Father Amir.
The gathering concluded with prayers for the departed soul of the late Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and wishes for continued peace, stability, and prosperity for the State of Qatar under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
