TEHRAN, July 27: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Monday that Tehran would not allow the United States to determine the timing of ending the conflict, stating that Iran would continue defending itself as necessary.
Speaking at a press briefing, Baghaei said the United States had been “stuck in a quagmire” and rejected Washington’s role in deciding matters of war and peace.
He said recent talks between Iran and Oman regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz were positive and continued as a bilateral matter, adding that the waterway remained closed.
Baghaei also claimed that some Gulf countries had been involved in the U.S. war on Iran but provided no further details.
Commenting on a reported Ukrainian attack on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea, he warned of possible consequences. Baghaei alleged the incident violated international law and said Iran would respond.
The Iranian spokesman’s remarks came amid ongoing regional tensions and diplomatic efforts involving several countries, as international observers continue monitoring developments and possible future negotiations.
