The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is negotiating with legendary West Indian batsman Sir Vivian Richards to serve as a mentor for the national team ahead of the Asia Cup and ICC World T20 in the Caribbean and United States.
A senior PCB source confirmed that talks are ongoing, with the Board eager to utilize Richards’ expertise, especially during the West Indies leg of the tournament. “The board is highly impressed with Richards’ mentoring performance with the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League. They want him to mentor the Pakistan squad for the World T20,” the source said.
However, Richards’ existing media commitments during the ICC World T20 World Cup pose a challenge. “They are working to find a solution because the Board is very keen on having Richards as the mentor, but he has not yet agreed to anything,” the source added.
