“My Career – My Future” Edition

More than 350 students gain first-hand experience of real workplaces across 33 organizations representing diverse sectors in Qatar

Doha, Qatar – 6 August 2026 – Qatar Career Development Center (QCDC), founded by Qatar Foundation (QF), concluded today the eighth and largest edition of its flagship “My Career – My Future” job-shadowing program, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau.

The closing ceremony, held at Multaqa, Education City Student Center, was attended by senior government officials, representatives of the program’s national partners, career development stakeholders, participating students and their parents, and senior representatives of the host organizations.

The ceremony featured remarks by His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and Saad Abdulla Al-Kharji, Executive Director of QCDC. It was also attended by His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, alongside distinguished representatives of the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and other government entities.

Saad Abdulla Al-Kharji, Executive Director of QCDC, commented on the successful conclusion of the program, stating: “This edition delivered the largest reach in the program’s history. Its significance lies in the model it has established: government, education, and industry working together to give young people earlier and more meaningful access to the world of work. This collective effort solidifies career guidance as a shared national responsibility and creates stronger foundations for the decisions that will shape Qatar’s future talent.”

In his remarks during the closing ceremony, His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, stressed the Ministry’s commitment to helping students make informed academic and career decisions. He said the “My Career – My Future” program supports this objective by connecting classroom learning with direct workplace exposure and broadening students’ understanding of future study and career pathways.

In turn, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Harami, Assistant Undersecretary for Youth Affairs at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, described “My Career – My Future” as a successful national model of cooperation between government entities and national institutions in investing in young people. He stressed that youth empowerment begins by broadening their career horizons and introducing them early to labor-market requirements and future opportunities.

He added that the Ministry is committed to supporting high-impact initiatives that build young people’s capabilities, in line with its vision of developing an informed, responsible generation capable of contributing to national development, and advancing the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Representing the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, Yaqoub Saleh Al Ishaq, Director of Civil Service Affairs, said the Bureau’s participation reflects its strategic role in developing national capabilities and preparing the government sector for the future. He added that investing in young people’s awareness supports informed academic and career choices, while advancing innovation, digital transformation, and institutional capacity building. He also thanked QCDC and all strategic partners whose collaboration helped ensure the initiative’s success, describing it as an example of national partnership and institutional integration in empowering young people.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Juma Al Kuwari, Assistant Director of the National Workforce Employment Department at the Ministry of Labour, said the Ministry’s participation forms part of its efforts to prepare national talent from an early stage. He explained that workplace exposure helps students develop their skills, explore private-sector opportunities, and select pathways aligned with labor-market needs and the National Workforce Strategy 2024–2030.

During the ceremony, more than 350 secondary-school students received certificates in recognition of their completion of the program, while 33 host organizations were honored for the expertise, mentorship, and workplace access they provided throughout the week.

A university fair held alongside the ceremony enabled students to carry their experience forward by exploring higher-education options and considering how potential majors connect with the professions and sectors they encountered.

The program ran from 2 to 6 August and created a direct link between career guidance, workplace exposure, and academic planning. Students began with preparatory training at Multaqa before moving into three days of job shadowing across participating organizations. Their placements offered firsthand insight into daily operations, professional responsibilities, workplace culture, and the skills and qualifications associated with a wide range of occupations.

This year’s edition also included students with disabilities, as part of QCDC’s efforts to expand access to career development opportunities and support inclusive participation.

The 33 host organizations represented sectors including healthcare, aviation, energy, media and communications, telecommunications, business, financial services, manufacturing, transport, judiciary, hospitality and tourism, sports management, engineering, technology, and humanitarian and social work.

The program forms part of QCDC’s broader portfolio of job shadowing and experiential learning programs, designed to connect career guidance with direct exposure to education and employment pathways, and develop more connected career development ecosystem in which institutions share responsibility for preparing young people for future study and work.
