YANGON, Aug. 10 — A Chinese space documentary has inspired Myanmar students to dream about space exploration and learn more about Chinese culture at a film exhibition held in Yangon.

The documentary “Shenzhou 13,” which chronicles China’s six-month manned space station mission and the first spacewalk by a Chinese female astronaut, was screened Sunday at the National Theater.

Seventeen-year-old Han Ni Oo, a student at Myat Taw Win International School, said the film encouraged her to believe that Myanmar could one day reach space.

The exhibition, organized by the China Cultural Center in Yangon, China Media Group and Myanmar Radio and Television, brought together students, teachers and officials from both countries.

Eleven-year-old Chue Thandar Kyaw, who has studied Chinese for about three years, participated in a space-themed coloring activity and said she enjoyed the films and cultural activities.

Teachers said such events allow students to learn beyond textbooks and gain a better understanding of Chinese culture.

Journalism student Su Myat Noe said the documentary gave her fresh motivation and showed that “nothing is impossible.”

Participants also highlighted the importance of cultural exchange, saying films can help bridge language barriers and strengthen understanding and friendship between Myanmar and China.
