COLOMBO, Aug. 11: Sri Lanka’s Cabinet has approved long-term contracts for the supply of petrol, diesel and crude oil through February 2027, as the government seeks to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies.
The Cabinet of Ministers said Tuesday that the contracts were awarded following limited international competitive bidding among suppliers registered with the country’s fuel corporation.
Four bids were received for each of the Petrol 92 and Murban crude oil procurements, while six bids were submitted for the diesel supply contract.
The Cabinet approved the procurements based on proposals presented by the Minister of Energy.
The contracts are aimed at maintaining adequate supplies of refined petroleum products and crude oil to meet Sri Lanka’s energy requirements.
The government said the procurement arrangements would support the continuity of fuel supplies as the country works to maintain energy security.
