BERLIN, Aug. 19: A second Ukrainian suspect has been arrested in Croatia over the 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, Germany’s Office of the Federal Prosecutor announced Wednesday.
The suspect, identified as Ukrainian national Vladimir Z., was detained in the coastal city of Pula under a European arrest warrant.
German prosecutors alleged that the suspect, a trained diver, was part of a team that used a rented sailing yacht to plant explosives on the Nord Stream pipelines in the Baltic Sea in September 2022.
The first Ukrainian national, identified as Serhii K., was arrested in Italy and later indicted by German prosecutors in June.
