LAHORE:

Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan of the Lahore High Court addressed newly appointed judges, urging them to work with honesty and without fear. Speaking at the Judicial Academy, he emphasized the divine nature of their duty, stating that they should fear the “God of Arsh” rather than the “gods of farsh.” He stressed that the judiciary serves both the powerful and the poor, highlighting the importance of integrity, a deep understanding of the Constitution, and patience in dealing with lawyers and litigants.

Chief Justice Malik Shahzad acknowledged the shortage of judges in Punjab and noted their efforts in reducing the backlog of cases, despite challenges. He outlined several solutions to further reduce delays, including the use of video links in courts, modern technology tools like E-Stamp and E-Filing, and the expansion of Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) courts across Punjab.

He expressed determination to address issues such as lawyer strikes, which hinder the timely dispensation of justice, and announced plans to establish ADRs in every district of Punjab. Chief Justice Malik Shahzad commended the judges for their hard work and dedication, emphasizing the judiciary’s commitment to justice for all, without fear or favor.

In conclusion, Chief Justice Malik Shahzad affirmed the judiciary’s role as a beacon of justice, serving the powerful and the poor alike with honesty and integrity. He praised the judges for their commitment to their duty and encouraged them to continue their work in dispensing justice impartially and efficiently.
