Seoul, August 28 (QNA) – South Korea, the United States and Japan will conduct trilateral military exercises from Sep. 7 to 11, the countries said today.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement today that the Freedom Edge exercise will take place off South Korea’s southern coast and aims to counter North Korea’s nuclear and missile threats and safeguard regional peace and stability.
The drills come after Seoul and Washington halved the scale of their bilateral Ulchi Freedom Shield exercise last week following instructions from US President Donald Trump to scale it back.
The previous three Freedom Edge exercises were held in June and November 2024 and September 2025.
