MIRPUR ( AJK): July 18: In Indian Illegally occupied Jammu Kashmir state, senior advocate and former general secretary of Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association Mohammad Ashraf Bhat was arrested from his residence in occupied Srinagar and booked under the Public Safety Act, says a report reaching here from across the line of control.
Bhat was arrested by the Indian occupational forces from his residence in Rawalpora area of the Srinagar city late on Wednesday night and booked under the PSA, the report said.
The former general secretary of the Bar Association was shifted to Kathua jail in Jammu region.
Bhat is the third senior functionary of the Bar Association who gas been arrested.
While former Bar president Nazir Ahmad Ronga was arrested last week and booked under the PSA, another former president of the lawyers’ body Mian Abdul Qayoom was arrested last month in connection with the murder of Advocate Babar Qadri by terrorists in 2020, the report revealed.
“This is the result of no accountability or Economic Sanctions On India which we Kashmiris are demanding for a long time”, said, Dr. Mubeen Shah, veteran Kashmiri leader, living in exile in Turkey.
“Until and unless that is not done India will continue to act like a rogue state and stifle all voices in Kashmir, in its Illegally and forced occupation by these lawless laws like the PSA – Public Safety Act”, Dr. Shah said in a statement reaching and released to the media here Thursday.
