Lahore, 19 July 2024: The Pakistan Cricket Board has provided the following update on player NOC requests for the Global T20 in Canada:
“The PCB received NOC requests from Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi for the Global T20 event, among other players. After considering Pakistan’s busy cricket calendar from August 2024 to March 2025, which includes nine ICC World Test Championship matches and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, and consulting with the players and the national selection committee, it was decided to decline their requests.
“These three are all-format cricketers, and their services will be required during the upcoming eight months, with Pakistan set to play nine Tests, 14 ODIs, and nine T20Is. In line with the PCB’s workload management policy, it is in the best interest of Pakistan cricket and the players to skip the event in Canada to ensure they are in optimal mental and physical shape for the season, starting with the two-Test series against Bangladesh.”
Previously, the PCB had also declined Naseem Shah’s permission for The Hundred on similar grounds.
However, the PCB has approved NOCs for Asif Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Nawaz. These players are predominantly white-ball cricketers, with Iftikhar and Nawaz being centrally contracted players. Sources PCB
