AIOU Hosts Awareness Walk to Promote Adult and Distant Education in AJK:

MIRPUR ( AJK): February 3 : Public-sector Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Mirpur region hosted a grand awareness walk here on Monday to promote adult and distance education.

” It was aimed at to continues the varsity’s efforts to highlight the significance of distance education, particularly adult education”, said Sheikh Faisal Shehzad Regional Director AIOU Mirpur-AJK while speaking to the participants of the,walk.

“In today’s fast-paced world, distance learning serves as an effective means of acquiring education, especially for individuals who are unable to attend traditional institutions due to time constraints or other challenges:, the RD said adding “AIOU is committed to providing equal educational opportunities for people of all ages, enabling them to contribute to societal development” .

Faisal continued that the educational awareness walk was also aimed at to emphasize the importance of education and promote public awareness about the benefits of distance learning besides to reinforce the mission, as well as to ncourage greater public participation in education and inform people about the accessibility of learning through distance education.

The awareness walk started starting from Muslim Hands Cricket Academy, Quaid-e-Azam International Sports Stadium and culminated at Kashmir Press Club Mirpur. A diverse group of participants from political, social, and educational backgrounds joined the event, showing their support for the cause of education.

Prominent attendees included Prof. Waris Jarral, Retired Registrar MUST Varrsity, Senior Kashmiri writer journalist and peace activist Altaf Hameed Rao,
Mirza Wajahit Baig, Imtiaz Hussain (Jatlan), Arsalan Jat, Prof. Mahmood Hussain, Malik Rafiq, Dr. Tahir Mahmood, Mahmood Ahmed, Azhar Iqbal, Sheikh Faisal Shahzad (Regional Director), Prof. Sardar Hafizullah, Mohammad Sardar Hafizullah, Chaudhry, Dr. Amjad Ansari, Supreme Head of Kashmir Institute of Special Education AJK, Sr. Journalist Zahid Bashir Chaudhry. Zahir Rush and others. Their participation underscored the collective commitment towards promoting education in Mirpur, our Special AJK Correspondent reports.

This initiative by AIOU Mirpur aims to spark positive change by raising awareness about the benefits of distance learning and ensuring that education remains accessible to all, regardless of age or circumstances.
