MIRPUR ( AJK): Dec. 13 Azad Jammu Kashmir Minister for Inland Revenue and Finance Qasim Majeed Chaudhry has strictly directed for the implementation of the Point of Sale (POS) system at all requisite entrepreneurs including hotels, marriage halls, and various food chains across AJK including in Kotli district of Mirpur division.
Addressing officers and staff of Inland Revenue in Kotli on Saturday the minister said that all possible ease will be provided to taxpayers, and the tax system will be made completely transparent.
The minister emphasized the need to strengthen the tax system to make it effective, transparent, and aligned with modern standards.
Qasim Majeed continued that such healthy steps by the IRD will enhance tax collection and promote a culture of digital invoicing and record-keeping. He instructed Assistant Commissioner Inland Revenue Kotli, Mian Asad Ullah, to implement the POS system.
The minister stated that revenue generated from taxes is the primary source of income for the state, through which state affairs are managed, highlighting the importance of improving the tax system.
Qasim Majeed also stressed the establishment of Tax Facilitation Centers to address taxpayers’ issues, noting that a center should be established in Raj Mahal, Kotli.
Assistant Commissioner Inland Revenue, Kotli district Mian Asad Ullah, informed the minister that a Tax Facilitation Center has already been set up in Sehnsa, while a center in Khoi Ratta will begin operations soon.
The meeting also addressed issues faced by the employees of Inland Revenue Kotli, including staff shortages and other administrative matters. The Minister expressed satisfaction with tax collection and the achievement of targets, appreciating the performance of officers and staff.
The minister announced that field staff will be provided motorcycles, and all possible facilities will be provided to staff posted at toll posts.
