MIRPUR (AJK), March 17: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has said that the government is taking concrete steps to promote quality education and create better opportunities for the region’s youth in line with modern educational requirements.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Khalid Gilani, Country Director of the NGO Muslim Hands, who called on him along with his delegation following the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Haveli and the NGO in Islamabad, according to official sources.
Describing the agreement as a positive development, the Prime Minister said such initiatives are vital for promoting education and supporting students from underprivileged backgrounds. He welcomed the scholarships being offered by Muslim Hands, saying they would help deserving students from Haveli district pursue higher education and contribute positively to the development of society.
Rathore emphasized that education remains a key priority of the AJK government, adding that empowering the younger generation through improved educational opportunities is essential for the region’s social and economic progress.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and welfare organizations to expand access to learning opportunities and strengthen the education sector.
Under the newly signed agreement, Muslim Hands will provide 100 scholarships to students of the University of Haveli, helping talented and deserving students continue their academic pursuits.
The MoU was signed by Khalid Gilani, Country Director of Muslim Hands, and Khawaja Farooq Ahmed, Vice Chancellor of the University of Haveli, in the presence of Prime Minister Rathore and other senior officials.
