AJK Govt. lifts ban on sale, purchase, transfer of alloted plots in MDA’s Housing sectors in Mirpur.

MIRPUR ( AJK): March 14 : On the directives of the Government of Azad Jammu Kashmir, Mirpur Development Authority Mirpur-AJK (MDA) on Friday lifted ban on transfer and sale of 9,000 out of 11,565 residential and commercial plots located in the housing sectors of the Authority.

This was disclosed by Director General MDA Engr Mahmood Mumtaz Rathore in a media briefing in his office here Friday morning.

“After the removal of this ban, the long-standing demand of the citizens including allottees or legal heirs of these plots has been fulfilled by the government”, he said adding now commercial and economic activities will be promoted through the real estate business in the lake side city increasing the income of the MDA also, which was facing some financial crunch for the suspension of the sale and transfer of the legally alloted plots

Amjad Iqbal President District Bar Association Chaudhry Mehmood Plakvi Advocate, Deputy Mayor Muhammad Ramzan Chaghatai, President of Chamber of Commerce Umar Shahzad Jaral, Former President of Chamber of Commerce Chaudhry Javed Iqbal, President of Kashmir Press Club Syed Abid Hussain Shah, Sohail Shuja Mujahid of Anjuman Tajaran, Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem, Raja Khalid Mahmood Khan, Professor Azkar Mirza of Property Dealer Association, Khawaja Rashid Lon, Sheikh Rashid and other representatives of civic organizations were also present on this occasion

In his press briefing, the DG MDA stated that the ban on transfer and sale of 11,565 plots of Mirpur Development Authority had been imposed about a couple of years ago.

“As per the instructions of the Chief Secretary of Azad Jammu Kashmir government, 9,000 of plots which are properly allotted and do not affect the place of public interest, have been revived. “The ban imposed on the purchase and transfer of plots has been lifted, thereby ending the problems that allottees, buyers, civic organizations and overseas Kashmiri allottees were facing due to the ban on purchase and transfer of plots, he underlined.

The DG MDA, further said that civic organizations besides the civil society should give suggestions regarding the improvement of this development institution. “By implementing the positive suggestions, more reforms will be brought for the improvement of the institution”, he added.

The DG MDA continued that on the instructions of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the MDA was taking steps to correct issues as well.

The DG MDA said that the issues of rest of over 2500 suspended plots reportedly marked and Illegally occupied at the places of public utilisation will be scrutinised individually for taking final decisions under the prevailing rules and regulations of the Authority. Since the plots, both residential and Comercial can not be marked and allotted at the sites meant, reserved for public utilisation under the MDA’s rules.

On this occasion, President District Bar Association Chaudhry Mehmood Palakvi Advocate, President Chamber of Commerce and Industries Umar Shehzad Jaral, Professor Azkar, Chaudhry Muhammad Naeem, President Real Estate Organization Khawaja Shahzad Lone, Sohail Shuja Mujahid, Chaudhry Javed Iqbal ex President Mirpur AJKCCI hailed tge AJK government’s decision about lifting the ban imposed on the transfer of plots by the Development Authority Mirpur.

The civil society leaders thanked Azad Jammu Kashmir, Prime Minister Chief Secretary Azad Kashmir, Commissioner Mirpur Division Chaudhry Mukhtar Hussain, Director General Development Agency Mahmood Mumtaz Rathore and State Officer MDA Chaudhry Amjad Iqbal paying rich tribute to their efforts meeting the local public demand.

They said that the new administration of the Mirpur Development Authority has solved the long-standing problem of the citizens by fulfilling its responsibilities, which will indeed end the concern about the institution resuming the abandoned economic and development activities in the real estate and related fields in the region.
