MIRPUR ( AJK): Sept. 5: Former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Mirpur District Dr. Riaz Ahmed Chaudhry has said that the role of media always stood utmost important in the speedy development and progress of any society.

“Kashmiri Journalist community under the fold of AJK’s biggest Kashmir Press Club Mirpur always played a positive role in the Kashmir Freedom Movement and civil liberties in the Indian Illegally occupied Jammu Kashmir state”، the distinguished AJK JI Leader expressed these views while talking to the journalists at the Kashmir Press Club here on Friday. He was flanked by several local leaders of the AJK Jamaat-e-Islami.

Dr. Riaz said that in this fast-paced era of social media, there was a heavy responsibility on the friends representing print and electronic media to play their role in conveying the news to the public after research. “News released without research causes chaos in the society”, he said.

He further said that protesting for the solution of problems was the fundamental right of every citizen and people always protest for the solution of problems. He said that protesting was a means of drawing attention and notice and it should remain that way. He said “we have reservations about measures like closure of roads, bridges and cancellation of wedding ceremonies following the coming reported protest programme announced by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee.

He emphasised as saying all of this should not had to be happened. He said that the people of the state have given them great respect by supporting the Action Committee and now they should respect the aspirations and wishes of the people and refrain from taking such steps that would create division in the nation. Rather, they should keep the nation together and cultivate positive thinking and sit at the negotiating table with the government to find solutions to the problems, he observed

Dr. Riaz Ahmed Chaudhry said that health services offered by his organization, were always available for the journalists of Kashmir Press Club and will do whatever is possible for the betterment of Kashmir Press Club and its affiliated journalists.

He said that he was happy to see the renovation of Kashmir Press Club on latest grounds to enable the member journalists to perform their professional duties through latest means of communication.
