MIRPUR (AJK): April 19: Azad Jammu Kashmir
Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq has emphasized for performance of OIC’s proactive role to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute in line with the UN Security Council’s resolutions.

The AJK premier said this while talking to a high level delegation of the OIC that called on him at the Jammu Kashmir Housein the federal. metropolis on Saturday.

The delegation was led by Ambassador Yousaf Muhammad S. Aldobeay, Special Representative for Political Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Speaking on the occasion, the PM while briefing the delegation about the latest situation in Indian occupied territory of Kashmir, stated that India’s imperialistic presence and it’s expansionist designs pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability.

He said that India’s unilateral decision to change the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, was a clear violation of UN resolutions.

The Prime Minister also voiced his concern over the use and abuse of draconian laws to suppress political dissent in the region. The Indian government’s move to suppress dissent and dissenters, he said, has led to arbitrary arrests and prolonged detentions of Hurriyat leadership, political activists and human rights defenders.

About the continued bloodshed and violence in the Indian occupied territory, the Prime Minister said that the genocidal tactics adopted by Israel in the occupied West Bank and Gaza were being applied by India in occupied Kashmir.

Referring to the volatile situation in the region, the PM said that Kashmir issue has assumed dangerous proportions.

“He pointed out that the Kashmiri people have no voice in governance, stating, “The Indian government has been directly managing and micromanaging the region’s affairs from New Delhi.”Addressing the precarious situation, the Prime Minister warned that “Kashmir has become a potential flashpoint between two nuclear powers”.The Prime Minister urged the OIC to adopt a cohesive stance on both the Kashmir and Palestinian issues, leveraging its political and diplomatic influence to facilitate a peaceful resolution to these long-standing conflicts.

Apprising the visiting delegation of the peaceful environment in Azad Kashmir, the Prime Minister said that people in the liberated territory live peacefully while enjoying their civic liberties.”There are no political prisoners in Azad Kashmir; all political, democratic rights, and fundamental freedoms enshrined in the AJK constitution are accessible to the citizens,” the Prime Minister remarked, emphasizing that the welfare of the state’s populace is his government’s foremost priority.He noted that there was complete religious harmony in the liberated territory and its citizens enjoy full freedom of expression and opinion.

The Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the OIC for its unwavering support of the Kashmiris’ legitimate struggle and thanked the Special Envoy for his visit to Azad Kashmir.The visiting delegation, on the occasion, reaffirmed the OIC’s ongoing commitment to the Kashmir cause, stating that the organization would persist in its efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the lingering dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The Special Envoy highlighted that the Kashmir issue remains a top priority for the OIC. Regarding his visit to Azad Kashmir, he explained that the purpose was to assess the current situation in the region and to brief participants of the upcoming OIC Conference of Foreign Ministers of Muslim Countries scheduled to take place in Istanbul.
