A criminal case has been registered against Chaudhry Imran Ahmed Inspector/SHO of Police Thothal Mirpur as a result of the preliminary investigation into the recent case of alleged harassment of the woman, an AJK-origin British national. The police officer has allegedly been found guilty following the preliminary inquiry and as a result of the inquiry, the said SHO has been suspended from the police service, according to an official handout of AJK government issued late Tuesday.
“A separate order for departmental inquiry into the case. has been issued due to the serious complaint”, according to the handout.
Quoting an official press release issued by the spokesperson of the AJK police department issued earlier on Tuesday, the handout said “strict disciplinary action will be taken against the inspector in the light of the departmental inquiry”. “Any person involved in illegal activities or crimes, regardless of whether he belongs to the police department or in whatever position he is posted, will be dealt with indiscriminately”, the police spokesperson said in the press release.
“Complaints of harassment of women in particular will not be tolerated and strict disciplinary and criminal action will be taken against such police personnel / officers since the protection of the sanctity of women will be ensured in letter and spirit”, the official handout concluded quoting the police Spokesperson.
