MIRPUR ( AJK): February 16: The two-day free surgical eye camp concluded successfully at the local Riaz Hospital Medical Complex here Monday, it was officiallysaid.
“A total of 608 patients were examined in the camp, while 48 patients gone under surgery through the latest phaco machine, the CEO Dr. Riaz Ahmed later told media in a briefing.
Dr. Riaz continued that a total of 131 patients were given free eyeglasses. Hundreds of other patients who were not eligible for surgery were given free medicines and eye drops.
In the Free Surgical Eye Camp managed by Al-Khidmat Health Foundation Pakistan experienced ophthalmologists from the Prevention of Blindness (POB) Department of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) offered free services under the spirit of humanitarian service.
Volunteers of the local Al-Khidmat Foundation Mirpur and the staff of Riaz Hospital were busy serving and managing the patients for two days and nights. Madam Fawzia Tabassum, head of the British NGO Huntley Medical, whose native place is Thothal Mirpur, covered all the expenses of this camp and announced to organize free camps in Mirpur in the future.
Dr. Riaz Ahmed, CEO Riaz Hospital Complex Mirpur, thanked the entire team and awarded a prize of Rs. 5,000 to the paramedical team coming from Lahore. Secretary General Al-Khidmat Health Foundation Pakistan. Dr. Abdul Rehman Children’s Hospital Bhimber thanked Riaz Hospital, PIMA Pakistan, POB Trust and Madam Fawzia Tabassum.
