Doha, January 01 (QNA) – Al Noor Center for the Blind, a part of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work under the Ministry of Social Development and Family, will commemorate World Braille Day on January 4, 2025. This year’s event coincides with the 200th anniversary of Braille’s invention, a pivotal development that transformed the lives of visually impaired individuals globally.
The celebration will feature integrated awareness activities to emphasize Braille’s role in education and its impact on empowering people with visual disabilities to contribute meaningfully to society.
Executive Director of Al Noor Center, Mishaal Abdullah Al Nuaimi, highlighted the significance of this year’s event, calling Braille a revolutionary tool that has enabled the blind to achieve independence in reading and writing. He reiterated the center’s ongoing commitment to providing advanced educational solutions based on Braille, combined with modern technology, to support excellence in education and professional pursuits.
The event will include an awareness pavilion showcasing the latest assistive technologies, such as smart tablets designed to interact with digital educational content. Modern solutions using artificial intelligence (AI) will also be presented, demonstrating innovative methods to enhance learning for the visually impaired.
Key activities will include a debate on Braille’s history and evolution, along with training workshops on combining Braille with advanced technologies to improve learning efficiency. Additionally, inspiring success stories of individuals who have excelled in education and careers using Braille and assistive technology will be highlighted, showcasing their ability to adapt and thrive in a tech-driven world.
This year’s celebration underscores Al Noor Center’s dedication to fostering an inclusive educational environment that ensures equal opportunities for visually impaired individuals.
