VLADIVOSTOK, July 24, Russian authorities have confirmed that all 49 people aboard a passenger plane that crashed near the city of Tynda in the Far East have died.
According to the Investigative Committee (IC), the An-24 aircraft, operated by Angara Airlines, lost contact with air traffic control on its approach to Tynda and was later found wrecked on a mountainside about 15 kilometers from the city.
IC spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko confirmed via Telegram that there were no survivors. The flight had departed from Khabarovsk and was scheduled to stop in Blagoveshchensk before continuing to Tynda.
Amur Oblast Governor Vasily Orlov stated that the aircraft was carrying 43 passengers and six crew members. Among those on board was a Chinese national, as confirmed by the Chinese Consulate General in Khabarovsk.
The consulate announced it will dispatch a working group to the crash site on Friday to coordinate consular support and follow-up.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash, with search and recovery teams currently operating at the remote site.
