Doha, March 16 – The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) announced that thousands of fasting individuals are flocking daily to the Iftar tents organized by the General Directorate of Endowments. The initiative, imbued with an atmosphere of faith and compassion, provides Iftar meals and religious programs aimed at enhancing understanding of Islamic values.
Awqaf emphasized that the Iftar project goes beyond providing meals; it also includes educational programs to raise awareness about religious matters. Lectures are delivered by professional preachers from the Sheikh Abdulla bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, with Urdu used to ensure effective communication with attendees.
Mohammed Hassan Al Tamimi, Deputy Chairman of Awqaf’s Iftar Committee, stated that the project aims to provide Iftar for 300,000 people during Ramadan. He highlighted that the initiative promotes religious awareness among the labor community, enabling them to gain a balanced understanding of Islam’s teachings. Al Tamimi noted that the Iftar tents foster social solidarity, strengthening bonds within the community, and reflect the values of the Prophetic Sunnah.
Religious lectures are held several days a week, lasting thirty minutes before Maghrib and concluding ten minutes prior to Iftar. These sessions aim to enhance religious knowledge, particularly for workers and non-Arabic-speaking communities. More than 1,000 individuals gather daily from Asr prayer until Maghrib to participate in the Iftar meal and attend the lectures, creating a meaningful community experience during Ramadan.
