Dhaka, February 17 (QNA) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader Tarique Rahman was sworn in as the country’s prime minister on Tuesday, forming his cabinet of 49 ministers, following his party’s victory in recent parliamentary elections.
Rahman’s government faces pressing challenges, including restoring political stability, rebuilding investor confidence, and revitalizing key industries such as the garment sector.
This comes after an uprising toppled Sheikh Hasina’s government in 2024, followed by prolonged unrest and an interim government headed by Muhammad Yunus, which led the country through a transitional period preceding the elections.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party, led by Rahman, secured a sweeping two-thirds majority in the parliamentary elections.
Upon victory, Rahman called on all citizens to remain calm, exercise restraint, and maintain peace, law, and order.
