US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed optimism about achieving a ceasefire in Gaza. Speaking about the US-drafted plan, he outlined its key components: a six-week ceasefire pause, withdrawal of Israeli forces, hostage and prisoner exchanges, and increased humanitarian aid.
Blinken emphasized the need for a “day-after plan” to establish Gaza’s governance post-conflict, ensuring the ceasefire becomes permanent. On Sunday, the US, Qatar, and Egypt proposed a final plan.
“The ball is now in Hamas’s court,” Blinken stated, highlighting that the agreement is ready for implementation. He believes the ceasefire will materialize, aligning with the framework proposed by President Biden in May.
