LONDON: Britain will not sign US President Donald Trump’s proposed “Board of Peace” treaty during the launch ceremony in Davos, Switzerland, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper has confirmed.
Speaking to British media, Cooper said the United Kingdom would not be among the signatories at this stage. She noted that the proposed agreement involves complex legal considerations and broader policy implications that require further review.
Trump is expected to formally unveil the Board of Peace at a signing event attended by international representatives. However, the UK government has indicated that additional examination is necessary before making any commitment.
Cooper described the initiative as a legal treaty that raises significant and wide-ranging issues, signaling a cautious British approach as discussions continue over the scope and framework of the proposed board.
