MIRPUR ( AJK): Dec. 19. Britain-based Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International’s founding Chairman Raja Najabat Hussain Thursday called on British Parliament member Debbie Abrahams in Oldham town late Thursday and apprised her of the latest fast deteriorating situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting ongoing human rights violations in the internationally-acknowledged disputed occupied state, it was officially said.
Nikabat (Sitara e Pakistan) led the delegation of the Jammu Kashmir Self-Determination Movement International (JKSDMI) in the special meeting with Debbie Abrahams MP, former Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir, current Chair of the APPG on Palestine, and a Member of the Work and Pensions Select Committee, Nijabat told our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao by phone interview lateron on Friday.
The meeting took place on the eve of the death anniversary of Quaid-e-Millat Chaudhary Ghulam Abbas, the founding father of Azad Jammu and Kashmir according to the message.
Talking to the delegation Debbie Abrahams MP reaffirmed her strong support for the Kashmiri people and confirmed that she has raised the Kashmir issue both in Parliament and locally in Oldham and Manchester. She also stated that she has briefed relevant government ministers at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on the situation in Kashmir. She assured the JKSDMI delegation of her participation in forthcoming JKSDMI events in Oldham and at the House of Commons.
She further discussed ongoing international-level lobbying efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
Nijabat also shared insights from his recent visit to Azad Kashmir and Pakistan. Raja Najabat Hussain expressed his gratitude for Debbie Abrahams’ continued support for the Kashmir cause and the work of JKSDMI, and invited her to attend and support upcoming JKSDMI activities planned for January and February at local, national, and international levels, including events in Oldham and the House of Commons, London.
The JKSDMI delegation included Patron Sardar Abdur Rahman Khan, JKSDMI UK General Secretary Javed Tariq, Administration Director Harry Boota, Secretary General of the International Lobby on Kashmir Professor Dr Tamoor Shafiq, Chairperson JKSDMI Greater Manchester Rubina Khan, and Executive Committee Member Ms Pamila Malik.
