China celebrates 98th PLA anniversary, reaffirms peace, partnership with Qatar

The Chinese Embassy in Doha celebrated the 98th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) with a diplomatic reception attended by government officials, defense representatives, and members of the international community in Qatar.
Chinese Ambassador Cao Xiaolin delivered the keynote address, highlighting the PLA’s journey over the past nine decades. He praised its role in defending China’s sovereignty, supporting national development, and contributing to global peace. “Since its founding, the PLA has stood as a force for justice and stability. China has never started a war or occupied foreign land,” said Ambassador Cao.
He emphasized China’s consistent commitment to a defensive military policy and peaceful international cooperation, stressing that the country remains firmly opposed to power politics and hegemony.
Focusing on regional relations, the Ambassador described the China-Qatar partnership as stronger than ever. “With the guidance of President Xi Jinping and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, our countries have entered a golden era of strategic cooperation. Military ties between China and Qatar are growing and play an important role in promoting peace in the region,” he said.
Reflecting on current global challenges, Ambassador Cao said the world is facing growing instability and security risks. He stressed that China and the Middle East share common historical experiences and values. “Our nations have overcome colonial struggles and have worked to defend independence, dignity, and development. This is a foundation for deep trust,” he added.
In his remarks, the Ambassador also looked back on one of the darkest chapters in Chinese history—the Japanese invasion beginning in 1931. He recalled the atrocities committed during that period, including the Nanjing Massacre. “The victory against fascism was not only a victory for China, but a victory for all of humanity,” he said. He noted that China would commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of that war this September.
Touching on the ongoing Gaza crisis, Ambassador Cao reaffirmed China’s support for peace and justice in the region. He detailed China’s efforts to promote a ceasefire, facilitate reconciliation among Palestinian factions, and deliver humanitarian aid. “The humanitarian crisis in Gaza must not be ignored. The two-state solution remains the only path to peace,” he stated.
He called on the international community to respect the voices of the Arab world and avoid turning the Middle East into a ground for geopolitical rivalry. “This region belongs to its people. China is a true friend to the Middle East and will continue to support peace, fairness, and development,” he said.
The evening concluded with a strong message of solidarity and peace. “Justice will prevail. Peace will prevail. The people will prevail,” Ambassador Cao declared, receiving warm applause from guests.
The event highlighted China’s enduring commitment to peace and the deepening partnership between China and Qatar.
