Washington, August 5 – Former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have been subpoenaed by the House Oversight Committee as part of a renewed investigation into the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The committee, led by Republican James Comer, issued subpoenas to the Clintons and eight other high-profile individuals, seeking testimony about Epstein’s connections and the handling of his case by federal authorities.
This move comes after growing public pressure to release more information related to Epstein, especially files believed to include a list of powerful individuals linked to him. The Trump administration had declined to make these records public, sparking backlash from both conservatives and liberals.
The subpoenas extend to former top officials from multiple administrations, including Attorneys General Jeff Sessions, William Barr, and Merrick Garland, along with former FBI directors James Comey and Robert Mueller.
Epstein was arrested in 2019 on charges of sex trafficking minors but died later that year in jail. His death, ruled a suicide, led to widespread speculation and demands for deeper investigations.
Earlier this summer, current Attorney General Pam Bondi stated that the Justice Department found no credible evidence of a “client list” and confirmed the suicide ruling. Many critics remain unconvinced.
The Oversight Committee appears determined to pursue the matter further, pressing for transparency across administrations
