It forms part of a coherent body of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions that collectively guarantee the Kashmiri people their inalienable right to self-determination through a free and impartial plebiscite.
The discussion provided a critical examination of India’s persistent and flagrant violations of its international obligations and international law in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Speakers presented a harrowing account of the ongoing regime of human rights abuses, meticulously documenting patterns of extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detentions, torture, and systemic repression aimed at crushing the legitimate political aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
A central and urgent demand emerged from the proceedings: holding India accountable for its crimes against humanity in IIOJK. The seminar called upon the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and relevant international human rights bodies to initiate a comprehensive investigation into these atrocities and to ensure the prosecution of the perpetrators. The participants stressed that impunity for such grave violations cannot be tolerated by the international community.
The seminar concluded with a resounding call for the immediate implementation of all relevant UN resolutions on Kashmir. It was emphasized that a just and lasting peace in South Asia is contingent upon resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the will of the Kashmiri people, as pledged to them by the international community over seven decades ago.
The event served as a stark reminder to the global community of its moral and legal responsibility to address the escalating crisis in Kashmir and to compel India to adhere to its commitments under the UN Charter and international law.
