MIRPUR ( AJK): May 25: District Magistrate Yasir Riaz Chaudhry has, under Section 144 Cr. PC, impose ban on currency exchange business on Sundays in Mirpur district in view of security concerns in the area, official sources said.

Unveiling the details, a district administration spokesperson told our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao here on Sunday that the currency exchange owners used to continue their business on every Sunday as well, besides the working days in the district. Since the currency exchange business directly stands under the control, supervision of the State Bank of Pakistan, the SBP stands closed on weekly holiday on Sundays, the working of the currency exchange centers on Sundays not only cause security concerns on the national weekly holiday on Sundays, but also the customers have to suffer due to the non-determination of rates following closure of the central bank, the State Bank of Pakistan”, the spokesman underlined.

“Therefore, in view of the above situation at the national level, the district administration has decided to impose ban on working of currency exchange business in Mirpur district on Sundays due to the security/safety concerns contradictory to the routine working conditions following closure of the SBP on national weekly holiday falling on Sundays”, he added.

“As a result of this ban, no person/persons will do or encourage currency exchange business in Mirpur district on Sundays. If any person/persons are found violating this order, punitive action will be initiated against the violators under Section 188 Azad Penal Code APC”, the Prohibitory Order said adding that the order will remain active with immediate effect for next two months period.
