MIRPUR ( AJK ): October. 30: A full court condolence reference was held to pay rich tributes to the late senior lawyer Haji Muhammad Afzal at the AJK Supreme Court Registry Branch in Mirpur on Thursday.

Chief Justice Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan chaired the ceremony.

Judge Supreme Court Justice Raza Ali Khan, senior lawyers of the AJK Supreme Court, High Court and District Bar Association, attended the condolence reference. Deputy Registrar Supreme Court Iftikhar Shaukat was also present on the occasion. The condolence reference was addressed by Chief Justice Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, Advocate General of Azad Kashmir Sheikh Masood Iqbal, Vice Chairman Bar Council Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Advocate, Secretary General Supreme Court Bar Association Chaudhry Rashid Rashid Advocate, President High Court Bar Association Raja Waseem Younis Advocate, General Secretary District Bar Association Chaudhry Fayyaz Advocate, Chaudhry Liaquat Afzal Advocate, while former Advocate General Masood A Sheikh, former President Supreme Court Bar Association Javed Najam Al-Saqib Advocate, Former President High Court Bar Association Babar Azam Advocate, Kamran Tariq Advocate, Information Officer M Javed Malik and senior lawyers were also present at the ceremony.

Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, while speaking on this occasion, said “as per religious tradition, we have gathered today to pay tribute to the late senior lawyer Haji Muhammad Afzal”. “While his family is deeply saddened by his death, the Azad Kashmir judiciary also shares his grief”, he added.

” He was a great lawyer of high standing who always put the dignity of the judiciary first. Even if there was a harsh word from the court, he never angered the court. The glory of a lawyer is that he never gets involved with the court. Such an act teaches guidance to young lawyers”, the Chief Justice said.

The Chief Justice said that since death was an irrefutable fact that cannot be denied. Everyone knows the time of his coming into the world, but no one knows the time of death. He said that his death was a great loss to the legal fraternity as he did not need anyone. After leaving this world, a person’s character and his deeds live on. We pray that Allah Almighty blesses Haji Muhammad Afzal Advocate with eternal peace. May Allah grant him a high position and grant his family patience”, he prayed.

Addressing the full court condolence reference, Advocate General of Azad Kashmir Sheikh Masood Iqbal said that Haji Muhammad Afzal Advocate was a legal expert who supported his clients from the trial court to the Supreme Court and was fully trusted. His excellent services in income tax and civil cases were the manifestation of his life. He was a devoted and refined person, he commented.

Vice Chairman AJK Bar Council Chaudhry Tariq Bashir Chaudhry Advocate said that there was no greater honor for a lawyer than the full court, since it stands as his Nishan Haider. He said that Haji Muhammad Afzal Advocate was the most senior lawyer of Azad Jammu Kashmir who always maintained a friendly attitude towards lawyers. He was a source of guidance for junior lawyers. He prayed that may Allah Almighty grant the departed soul place in eternal peace.

General Secretary Supreme Court Bar Association Chaudhry Rashid Bashir Advocate said that Haji Muhammad Afzal Advocate was a fearless lawyer who upheld the supremacy of law and constitution. He always rendered full services to lawyers, judiciary and public rights, for which we pay tribute to him in great words.

On this occasion, the son of the deceased Chaudhry Liaquat Afzal Advocate expressed gratitude for the Chief Justice Azad Jammu and Kashmir Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, Senior Judge Supreme Court Justice Raza Ali Khan and the legal community for organizing a full court condolence reference.

The house offered fateha for the departed soul with prayers,for forgiveness and elevation to the high ranks in jannah.
