Div. Administration, WAPDA authorotaties move to resolve issues related to Mangla Dam affectee

MIRPUR ( AJK): Dec. 31: A high level meeting between senior officials of Mirpur-AJK Divisional administration and WAPDA here Wednesday discussed , in detail, the release of compensation amounts in light of the decisions made under the court cases of Mangla Dam and raising project affectees besides determination of market price of houses affected during the dam raising project, repair of the constructed dikes, link roads and supply of water from the Jarri Kass pocket of the Mangla Dam reservoir, it was officially said.

Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz chaired the meeting held with the officials of WAPDA Mangla for the resolution of the reported long-standing issues related to Mangla Dam and WAPDA since the completion of the raising of the country’s second largest reservoir, authorotative official sources of the Divisional administration told our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao here on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by General Manager WAPDA Mangla Fakhar Jahan, Director Mangla Dam Housing Authority Chaudhry Amjad Iqbal, Director Works MDHA Engineer Inamul Haq, Collector Affairs Mangla Dam Raja Tariq Mahmood, WAPDA Mangla Syed Faizan Haider Shah, RE Mangla Asif Raza, Exxon Building Muhammad Saqib Hussain, Information Officer Muhammad Javed Malik, Tehsildar Muhammad Jahangir besides representatives of the Mangla dam affectees and the additional families of the affectees.

The meeting discussed, in length, the decisions of various courts od law on the cases, payment of compensation in light of the decisions, the action taken on the application of the Mangla Dam affectees to WAPDA for award, payments of the contracts of houses awarded in light of the court verdicts as per the market rate, the repair of the dike-link roads constructed under the Mangla Dam Raising Project, according to the sources.

The meeting also reviewed the completion of the remaining development projects related to WAPDA in the towns to be built for the Mangla Dam affectees.

The meeting decided to convene monthly meetings to review all the issues and matters of the of Mangla Dam affectees besides to review the progress to be made in the light of the recommendations of the previous meetings.

“In this regard, WAPDA will take action to determine the compensation for houses under the court cases as per the market rate, the meeting declared instructing law enforcement functioneries to immediately eliminate encroachments on WAPDA lands, located in the periphery of Mangla Dam reservoir and the related areas.
