MIRPUR (AJK), February 22 (APP) – On the special instructions of Secretary Industries and Commerce Labor Welfare Sardar Adnan Khurshid and Deputy Commissioner Raja Sadaqat Khan, Mirpur authorities conducted extensive market inspections across the district to ensure price control and consumer protection, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
Special Magistrate Price Control Raja Waseem Afzal and Inspector Instrument Measurement Ijaz Ahmed inspected beef, mutton, chicken, and fruit shops along Khambal Akbar Road. They checked the weight and pressure of cylinders, removed trays attached to mincing machines, destroyed substandard prepared mince, and imposed on-the-spot fines. Warnings will be issued to those using substandard instruments.
A special raiding team, led by Tehsildar Chaudhry Imran Yousuf with police support, conducted inspections at Thothal Fazil Chowk, Hall Road, Old Chungi, New City Gate, and surrounding markets. Shopkeepers selling items without clearly displayed price lists or setting up stalls in the middle of roads were penalized. Nine shopkeepers were arrested for overcharging and violating prescribed rates.
Deputy Commissioner Raja Muhammad Sadaqat Khan emphasized that inspections will continue during both day and evening hours, particularly during Ramadan, to protect public interests and ensure fair access to essential goods. All shopkeepers are instructed to sell goods according to prescribed rate lists and provide relief to consumers.
Authorities stated that strict action will be taken against violations, and no concessions will be allowed for overcharging or unauthorized roadside sales. These measures aim to ensure fair pricing, enhance consumer protection, maintain order, and promote public confidence in Mirpur markets during the festive month
