Doha, Qatar – October 29, 2025: The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Doha hosted a grand reception to celebrate the 102nd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, attended by ministers, diplomats, officials, and members of the Qatari community. The event highlighted the enduring friendship, strategic partnership, and shared vision for regional and global cooperation between Türkiye and Qatar.
The ceremony began with the playing of the national anthems of Türkiye and Qatar, symbolizing mutual respect and shared pride. Ambassador Dr. Mustafa Göksu warmly welcomed all guests and expressed gratitude for their presence on this historic occasion.
Distinguished attendees included: Mr. Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council, Dr. Hamad Al Kawari, President of the Qatar National Library, Mr. Ghanem bin Shaheen Al-Ghanem, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Mr. Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al-Marri, Minister of Labour, Mr. Sultan bin Saad bin Sultan Al-Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ibrahim bin Yousuf Fakhro, Director of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Ambassador of Eritrea and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps.
In his keynote address, Ambassador Göksu reflected on Türkiye’s proud legacy as a nation reborn from struggle and sacrifice under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, emphasizing the country’s resilience, unity, and enduring commitment to peace, justice, and stability. He underscored that Türkiye–Qatar relations have evolved into a model strategic partnership under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and H.H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Ambassador Göksu highlighted that over 120 agreements and memoranda of understanding have been signed between the two countries, spanning trade, investment, energy, culture, education, and technology. He noted that Turkish companies play a key role in Qatar’s development projects, while Qatari investors contribute significantly to Türkiye’s economic growth. Joint ventures in third countries further promote shared prosperity and enhance global influence.
Addressing global humanitarian and international challenges, the Ambassador referred to crises in Gaza, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Somalia, and Sudan. He praised Qatar’s role in facilitating peace negotiations and reaffirmed that Türkiye will continue to support its sisterly nation in all matters of sovereignty, security, and regional stability. He reiterated the shared belief in a two-state solution for Palestine and emphasized the importance of international cooperation to alleviate human suffering and promote sustainable peace.
Ambassador Göksu also praised Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts in conflict resolution, humanitarian aid, and fostering international partnerships, highlighting initiatives such as prisoner exchanges in Ukraine, peace talks in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the safe reconstruction of Syria, the Somalia–Ethiopia Ankara Process, and support for peace processes in Sudan, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.
Concluding his remarks, he paid tribute to the heroic founders of the Republic and reaffirmed Türkiye’s guiding principle of “Peace at Home, Peace in the World.” He expressed gratitude to the Embassy staff, event sponsors, and cultural partners for their contributions to the success of the celebration.
The Ambassador’s residence was filled with distinguished guests who enjoyed a vibrant cultural program, featuring traditional Turkish music and performances that reflected the nation’s rich heritage. A lavish dinner, serving both Turkish and Arabic cuisine, provided an opportunity for attendees to experience the richness of both cultures while fostering personal and professional connections.
