Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Istanbul on Sunday evening for a high-level diplomatic meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The leaders met at the Dolmabahce Working Office, where they held a closed-door session. Discussions focused on advancing Türkiye-Pakistan relations and reviewing progress made under the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC), a key platform for bilateral engagement between the two nations.
The meeting also covered a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest, reflecting the two countries’ shared commitment to deeper strategic collaboration in political, economic, and security matters.
This latest interaction follows the previous HLSCC session held in Islamabad in February, which was attended by President Erdogan and Pakistani officials. That meeting emphasized enhancing cooperation in trade, defense, education, and cultural exchange.
The visit by Prime Minister Sharif is seen as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce Türkiye-Pakistan ties amid evolving geopolitical dynamics. Both countries have historically maintained close relations, underpinned by shared values and mutual support on global forums.
Further announcements regarding joint initiatives or agreements are expected following the meeting in Istanbul.
