DAMASCUS, Syria – Syria’s capital airport resumed operations on Wednesday with a landmark flight to Aleppo, marking the first such connection between the cities since the fall of Bashar Assad’s regime earlier this month.
A Syrian Airlines passenger plane took off from Damascus, landing in Aleppo, following the reopening of the airport, which had halted flights after anti-regime forces seized control of the capital on December 8. This marked the end of Assad’s nearly 25-year rule.
