Istanbul, October 2025 — The Gaza Tribunal announced its final findings and “moral judgment” in Istanbul on Sunday, declaring that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and urging the international community to take immediate measures to halt the atrocities.
Chaired by Professor Christine Chinkin, the Jury of Conscience concluded four days of public hearings featuring international jurists, scholars, and witnesses who presented extensive evidence of systematic crimes. “When law is silenced by power, conscience must become the final tribunal,” the Jury stated, emphasizing that genocide in Gaza is a concern for all humanity and must be named and documented.
The Tribunal’s judgment described a “coherent and consistent pattern of exterminatory violence,” including the destruction of homes, hospitals, schools, and essential infrastructure. It accused Israel of weaponizing hunger, denying medical care, and enforcing mass displacement as tools of collective punishment. Other crimes listed included domicide, ecocide, scholasticide, reprocide, and targeted attacks on journalists, civic leaders, and healthcare workers.
The report also condemned Western complicity, particularly the role of the United States, in providing weapons, intelligence, and political cover. It warned that silence and inaction constitute forms of complicity and criticized global governance institutions for failing to uphold their responsibilities under international law.
Calling for global accountability, the Jury recommended suspending Israel from international organizations, activating the UN’s Uniting for Peace mechanism to protect Palestinians, and holding all perpetrators and enablers accountable “politically, militarily, economically, and ideologically.”
The findings linked the crisis to a century-long settler-colonial apartheid system rooted in Zionism and backed by Western powers. The Tribunal reaffirmed Palestinians’ right to self-determination and urged a unified rights-based political order grounded in equality, decolonization, and the right of return.
Concluding its judgment, the Tribunal warned: “Silence is not neutral; silence is complicity; neutrality is surrender to evil.
