Dubai, February 12 (QNA) – Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, reaffirmed the firm and unwavering stance of GCC countries on the Palestinian cause, stressing the Palestinian people’s right to regain all occupied territories and achieve their legitimate aspirations.
Speaking at the “State of the Arab World” dialogue session, held on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit 2025 on Wednesday, Albudaiwi was joined by Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit. During the discussion, he emphasized that the Palestinian issue is a core and indivisible matter that requires a just and lasting resolution in accordance with international laws and United Nations (UN) resolutions.
Albudaiwi called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposing any actions that may hinder their legitimate rights. He stressed that the GCC remains committed to diplomatic efforts to advance the Palestinian cause and promote regional stability.
Additionally, he highlighted the strong and historic ties between the GCC and the United States, stating that both sides share common interests and a clear, strategic vision in maintaining regional security and stability. He noted that the U.S. recognizes the GCC’s significant role in addressing key regional and international challenges.
In conclusion, Albudaiwi emphasized the importance of enhancing diplomatic and peaceful efforts to achieve a comprehensive and just resolution, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and securing refugee rights in line with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant UN resolutions.
