Riyadh, January 10 (QNA) – Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi and US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Barbara Leaf discussed support for regional stability and security.
During a telephone call, Albudaiwi affirmed the GCC’s support for all efforts aimed at achieving stability, prosperity, and security in regional and international issues, particularly the situation in Gaza. He stressed the necessity of halting Israeli occupation forces’ violations and resolving the crisis in accordance with international and UN resolutions.
The two sides reviewed regional and international efforts aimed at restoring the unity, sovereignty, and security of Syria. The GCC Secretary General highlighted the GCC’s support for all efforts to achieve a comprehensive and inclusive transitional process that brings stability, development, and security to the Syrian people.
Regarding Lebanon, both sides welcomed the election of a new president and expressed hope that this positive step would contribute to Lebanon’s stability and security, leading to prosperity and development for the Lebanese people.
They also exchanged views on the latest regional developments and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides.
