Johannesburg, November 12 — The Global South Media and Think Tank Forum: China-Africa Partnership Conference will take place on Thursday and Friday in Johannesburg, bringing together over 200 representatives from more than 160 media outlets, think tanks, government bodies, and institutions from China and 41 African countries, along with the African Union.
Under the theme “Reforming Global Governance: New Roles and Visions for China-Africa Cooperation,” participants will explore ways to strengthen global governance and deepen collaboration between China and Africa. Key discussions will focus on China-Africa commitments to global governance reform, initiatives for Global South revitalization, and exchanges in civilizational coexistence.
The forum will include a series of cultural and professional exchange activities, such as a collaborative cultural event between China’s Hunan Province and African partners, highlighting shared heritage and cooperation.
A highlight of the forum will be the release of a think tank report titled “Jointly Building a New Model of Global Leadership: Working Together for a More Just Global Governance System,” alongside the launch of the Global South Joint Communication Partnership Network, called “United in Heart, Path and Action – 2026 China-Africa Partnership Empowerment Action Plan.”
Jointly organized by Xinhua News Agency and the African Union, the forum aims to foster deeper exchanges between media and think tanks, amplify the theme of the all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future, and pool expertise to strengthen the role of the Global South.
Delegates will explore ways for the Global South to act as a stabilizing force for peace, a driver of open development, a constructive participant in global governance, and a promoter of mutual learning and understanding among civilizations.
