MIRPUR (AJK): Feb. 9 : A global online Kashmir webinar hosted in advance of the 42nd Martyrdom Anniversary of veteran Kashmir freedom movement iconic leader Maqbool Butt, falling on February 11, bringing together political leaders, scholars, activists, and members of civil society from across the world to reflect on his political philosophy and the future of peace and justice in Kashmir, organisers officially stated.
The seminar’s Chief Guest was Lord Qurban Hussain, Member of the House of Lords, British Parliament, our Special Jammu Kashmir state Correspondent Altaf Hamid Rao reports quoting a message released to this Correspondent on Monday.
In a powerful and widely appreciated address, Lord Qurban Hussain commended the organizers for arranging a timely and meaningful seminar, paid rich tribute to Shaheed Maqbool Butt, and emphasized that durable peace in South Asia is not possible without justice, dialogue, and respect for the fundamental rights of the people of Kashmir.
The seminar was presided over by Raja Muzaffar, veteran Kashmiri leader in exile and a close associate of Maqbool Butt. In his presidential address, Raja Muzaffar highlighted the political philosophy of Maqbool Butt as a principled, inclusive, and peace-oriented vision rooted in dignity and self-determination. He strongly appealed for unity among Kashmiri political forces, the resumption of tripartite dialogue, and the immediate release of Yasin Malik and other Kashmiri political prisoners.
The webinar was moderated by Javed Iqbal, who conducted the proceedings in an organized and focused manner.

Participants, at the conclusion of the seminar unanimously adopted resolutions calling for: protection of the original ideology of Maqbool Butt, unity and coherence within the Kashmiri freedom movement, immediate release of Yasin Malik and all Kashmiri political prisoners and resumption of meaningful dialogue for a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute, the message concluded.
