Millions across India are joyously celebrating Holi, the vibrant festival of colours. Marking the arrival of spring, Holi symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and the end of winter. Families gather to light bonfires, toss colours, and spray water at each other in a jubilant display of togetherness. Traditional sweets are shared, adding to the festive spirit.
One of India’s most widely celebrated festivals, Holi sees millions returning to their hometowns to reunite with loved ones. The festival also honours the divine love of Hindu deities Radha and Krishna, with especially grand celebrations held in Mathura and Vrindavan, believed to be their birthplace.
Historically, Holi has also been linked to marking bountiful harvests and prayers for a fertile land, adding a deep cultural and spiritual significance to the event.
