MIRPUR (AJK): March 18: A talented student from Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has earned distinction at the international level as part of a female team from International Islamic University Islamabad participating in the prestigious Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot currently underway in Hong Kong.
The four-member team, representing Pakistan at the 23rd edition of the globally renowned moot court competition, includes Amna Sohrab from Nowshahro Feroze (Sindh), Mohsina Hayat from Chitral (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Neha Fatima from Mirpur (Azad Jammu and Kashmir), and Shereen Ali from Jaranwala, Faisalabad.
According to a message released to the media on Wednesday, the team has brought pride to both the university and the country by demonstrating remarkable skills in international law and arbitration during the competition, regarded as the world’s largest moot court event in this field.
The participants, coming from diverse regions of Pakistan, displayed outstanding teamwork, dedication and determination. Despite facing various challenges, including arranging sponsorship for participation in the prestigious event, the students successfully reached the global stage and represented their institution with distinction.
Their participation marks a historic milestone for the university, as it is the first time that an all-female team from IIUI has competed in the internationally acclaimed arbitration moot. Organisers praised the team’s performance and described it as a strong example of the growing role of Pakistani women in the field of international legal studies.
Observers noted that the students’ achievement highlights the immense talent and potential present in Pakistan and reflects the increasing participation of female scholars in global academic and legal forums.
