Renowned Indian expatriate, educationist, and entrepreneur Hassan AK Chougule passed away in India early this morning at the age of 74. A longtime resident of Qatar for over 45 years, Chougule played a key role in leading all four apex bodies under the Indian Embassy.
He was a recipient of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, India’s highest civilian honor for overseas citizens. A pioneer in education, he co-founded several Indian schools in Qatar and helped establish a branch campus of an Indian university.
Chougule also served as the Chairman of Muhibban Urdu Hind Qatar, playing a vital role in promoting Urdu in the region.
He also established a Technical Institute in his KOKAN Region for students to benefit from in technical fields.
He was accessible to all irrespective of nationality or religion and he would always help everybody.
Originally from Maharashtra, he had been battling multiple illnesses and was undergoing treatment in India. His passing marks a significant loss to the Indian expatriate community.
However, he has left his imprints in Qatar and a legacy for the community to emulate.
