New Delhi, February 18 (QNA) – Indian media have highlighted the state visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to India, where he received a warm reception in New Delhi. The visit marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations in economic, commercial, cultural, and strategic sectors.
Indian media noted the deep-rooted ties between Qatar and India, emphasizing their historical friendship and mutual respect. The visit reflects efforts to enhance trade, investment, energy, technology, and cultural cooperation, as well as Qatar’s appreciation for the Indian community.
ETV Bharat described the visit as a crucial step in deepening ties, focusing on economic collaboration, defense cooperation, and energy security. It aligns with India’s ‘Look West Policy,’ which aims to strengthen relations with West Asian countries. Qatar is India’s largest supplier of liquefied natural gas and exports vital resources such as ethylene, ammonia, and polyethylene. Indian companies are also seeking to expand investments in Qatar’s infrastructure, technology, and energy sectors.
NDTV highlighted the importance of HH the Amir’s second official visit to India, following his 2015 trip. The report noted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rare gesture of personally welcoming HH the Amir at the airport, reflecting the visit’s diplomatic significance. Discussions with President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi will focus on enhancing trade, investment, and technological collaboration.
The Hindustan Times and The Economic Times emphasized the strategic depth of India-Qatar relations, citing Qatar’s growing influence in West Asia and its role in global mediation efforts.
