The Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Forum (IAPF) 2024 commenced on Sunday in Bali, with parliamentary leaders from 22 countries gathering to bolster global partnerships. The summit, held in Nusa Dua, was inaugurated by Puan Maharani, Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), who called for stronger collaborations between the nations for the welfare of their people.
During her opening remarks, Maharani emphasized the critical role of parliaments in promoting peace and prosperity, not only in Africa and Indonesia but also globally. She urged participants to lead efforts in addressing global crises that directly affect citizens, underscoring the need for parliaments to take an active stance on these issues.
The three-day summit, themed “Forging Indonesia-Africa Parliamentary Partnership for Development,” will run until Tuesday, focusing on deepening cooperation and tackling shared global challenges.
