Iran on Monday claimed responsibility for a missile attack on an Israeli-linked cargo vessel, according to Iranian state media reports. The report, published by Fars News Agency, quoted a military source stating that naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted a container ship identified as SDN7 using a cruise missile.
The source claimed the vessel caught fire following the strike, though no independent confirmation was immediately available. There were no confirmed details regarding the ship’s ownership, exact location, or the condition of its crew members.
Earlier, the IRGC Navy had also claimed that another Israeli-linked vessel, MSC Ishika, caught fire after a drone strike in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday.
There has been no immediate response from Israel regarding the latest claim. Regional tensions have remained high since late February following military escalation involving the United States and Israel, and subsequent Iranian missile and drone strikes targeting multiple locations across the region. Iran has also imposed restrictions on ship movements through the Strait of Hormuz, raising concerns over regional maritime security.
