TEHRAN, October 13 (QNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced Monday that Iran will not participate in the international peace summit convening in Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh to finalize an agreement on ending the Gaza conflict.
In a post on social platform X, Araghchi stated that while Iran supports diplomatic initiatives aimed at halting the war, “neither President Pezeshkian nor I can engage with counterparts who have attacked the Iranian people and continue to impose threats and sanctions.”
He reaffirmed Iran’s support for efforts that seek to end what he described as Israel’s “genocide” in Gaza and ensure the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces. Araghchi stressed that Palestinians are fully entitled to exercise their legitimate right to self-determination and urged the international community to uphold its obligations in supporting their cause.
The foreign minister added that Iran remains a “vital force for peace” in the region, emphasizing that unlike Israel, “Iran seeks no forever wars, but enduring peace, prosperity, and cooperation.”
The Sharm El-Sheikh Summit, scheduled for Monday, gathers leaders and representatives from over 20 nations to discuss implementation of the Gaza ceasefire and long-term political arrangements for regional stability.
