TEHRAN, Oct. 2, 2025 – Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), calling it a grave violation of international law and an assault on humanitarian principles.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said in a statement that Israel’s seizure of several vessels in the Mediterranean Sea and the detention of hundreds of passengers underscored what he described as “terrorist behavior against peaceful activists.”
He praised the efforts of international volunteers who, through the GSF, sought to deliver food and medical aid to the besieged people of Gaza, noting that the flotilla reflected a genuine humanitarian initiative supported by civil groups across the globe.
“The repeated attacks on aid convoys not only violate international maritime regulations but also reveal Israel’s determination to tighten the illegal blockade on Gaza,” Baghaei said.
The GSF convoy, consisting of nearly 50 vessels carrying over 500 volunteers from more than 40 countries, set sail to challenge Israel’s naval blockade and bring urgent relief supplies. Iran urged international organizations to hold Israel accountable and ensure the safe passage of humanitarian missions to Gaza.
