Tehran, August 22 – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi will hold a phone discussion Friday with his French, British, and German counterparts on the country’s nuclear program, the official IRNA news agency reported. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas will also join the talks, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.
The agenda includes Iran’s demand for the removal of sanctions and its call for European accountability over the Israeli-U.S. attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities in June, Baghaei stated.
Since September, Iran and the three European powers have held multiple rounds of dialogue on nuclear-related issues and sanctions relief. The latest meeting took place in Istanbul, Türkiye, in late July.
Tensions persist as European states have warned of triggering the snapback mechanism—a provision in the 2015 nuclear deal that would allow the reinstatement of all international sanctions should Iran fail to meet its commitments.
The outcome of Friday’s discussion is expected to shape the next phase of diplomatic efforts to salvage the nuclear agreement and prevent further escalation amid growing regional tensions.
